TWO people died at the scene in the early hours of Friday in Hibberdene after three vehicles collided on the N2 going to Durban. The third one, a woman, died later in hospital.

Netcare911 spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said a teenage girl between 13 and 15 was among the dead and one of the drivers was declared dead on scene.

“Three people, including the teenage girl’s grandmother, the grandfather and the driver of another vehicle were treated before being taken on hospital,” said Mathe.

Reports indicate that the grandmother is in critical condition, while the grandfather sustained minor injuries.

“The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries,” said Mathe.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said a blue sedan that was travelling south, collided with the right rear of a grey sedan on the southbound lane and then went over the median into the northbound lane where it crashed into a silver sedan which was travelling north.

“The cause of the accident is being investigated by Hibberdene police and two dockets on two counts of culpable homicide, and reckless and or negligent driving will be opened,” said Wiid.

The exact detail to the cause of the accident is being investigated by police. - Supplied.
