THREE people have died following an accident which took place at about 4.50 pm on Tuesday.

The accident occurred on the P75 Lelos Drift road, about 1km from Msinsini Police Station towards the Qoloqolo location. According to police, a tipper truck collided with a Hilux LDV.

Two teenage school children and one adult female, who was a front passenger in the bakkie, died on impact and three others were seriously injured.

“The driver of the bakkie, who was trapped inside for a while, had to be extricated using the Jaws of life,” said Port Shepstone SAPS spokesperson Captain Petros Mpinge.

KZN EMS spokesperson Robert Mckenzie said paramedics treated three critically injured patients at the scene of the crash before transporting them to Port Shepstone hospital. The cause of the crash is not yet known.
