PUPILS of St Martins De Porres School were awarded for top achievements in 2016. Last week parents and pupils were filled with joy when the accolades were awarded.

Principal Dion Davey thanked teachers and pupils for their hard work throughout the year.

School spokesperson Siphelele Gumede said the principal congratulated the awarded pupils especially those from the from intellectually impaired section, who showcased their skills in designing and sewing.

“The intellectually impaired pupils modelled their own designed outfits for parents and the school and the winner of the best design was awarded. We also had a number of special awards for sports and the dux,” said Gumede.

Sithembile Dlamini was awarded a karate award, Blessing Mchunu received an appreciation award, Sphindile Sikobi, the sports girl of the year award and Sphumelelo Ncayiyane the sports boy of the year ward.
“After those awards the winner of the fashion show was announced and Nohlanhla Mthwane walked away with it. Sithabiso Nala took the dux award for 2016,” said Gumede.
