DIE geleentheidspreker op die maandvergadering van die Afrikaanse Handels-insituut se Laer Suidkustak verlede Donderdag was ‘n bekende kliniese sielkundige van Pietermaritzburg, mnr. Leon Grové.
Hy het reeds 26 jaar lank sy eie praktyk, met 25 jaar se korporatiewe ondervinding, en is bekend as ‘n konsultant, opleier, fasiliteerder en mentor.

Hy is onder meer ‘n kundige in stres-hantering, en het gesê sy aanbieding is gegrond op die beginsels dat dit ‘n individu “Leverage and Growth” kan gee met die oog op ‘n mededingende voordeel.
Baie mense verstaan nie wat stres is nie, het mnr Grové gesê, en hul lewens is total ongebalanseer . . . maar te veel aan die kant van die skaal.
Entrepreneurs moet besef hulle doel is om te bly sake doen, en dit kan net gebeur indien hulle ‘n ewewig handhaaf in hul gesinslewe, dieët en lewensgewoontes.
“Elke mens is verantwoordelik vir sy eie vyf ‘M’s (in Engels­), mind, metabolism, memory, meaning in Life, en money. Neem beheer hieroor, en jou lewe verander drasties.”

Hy het verskeie wenke aan die hand gedoen om bg. te help verwesenlik, “bestuur en be-heer jou gedagtes, moenie ‘n dag met negatiewe gedagtes begin nie, wees met alles pro-aktief . . . nie reaktief nie, hoe meer positiewe dinge jy in jou brein kan invoer hoe meer beheer het jy oor jou gedagtes, formuleer ‘n duidelike visie van presies weaarheen jy onderweg is, en probeer altyd om jouself in die plek van ander mense te stel om te kan bepaal hoe hulle werklik voel.”

Nog ‘n belangrike beginsel vir sakemanne is om te verseker dat hul vroue gelukkig is, want “a happy wife equals a happy life”.
“Kry ook genoeg oefening en slaap, eet gesond, en onthou, werkstres is die grootste oorsaak van hartsiektes.
Daarbenewens beteken elke oorgewig-kilogram jou hart moet jou bloed een kilometer verder pomp.”
