A-23-YEAR-OLD male, who came all the way from Marianhill, just outside Durban, to burgle residences, was arrested this week due to the quick response of the Port Shepstone K9 unit.

Captain Vuyani Rini, commander of K9 unit in Port Shepstone and his members Sergeant Rommel da Rosa, Sergeant “KC” Mdlozini and Constable Innocent Nhlumayo were on duty near the CBD at 1pm when they received a report of a house breaking in progress on Rathboneville Road.

They also received a description of the suspect who was seen fleeing with stolen items.

“The members started searching the surrounding area and the bushes and then arrested the suspect who was found in possession of some property,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

He was caught with a gold watch, play station, shoes and other items.

After investigation it was discovered that two houses were broken into earlier in the day and the recovered property was stolen from these houses.

“The suspect will be charged with two cases of house breaking and theft and also for being in possession of stolen property,” she said.

The man will remain in police custody pending the investigation. - Supplied.
