FOR the second year the Nomusa Mqwebu SMME and Education Golf Development Trust, in partnership with the Margate Country Club, will host a fund-raising youth development golf day. The event will take place on 25 November at Margate Country Club.

In a media statement, founder of Nomusa Mqwebu SMME, and Education Golf Development Trust, Nomusa Mqwebu said the day is aimed at developing golf skills among young girls and boys, promote and foster a love for the sport among those who come from a disadvantaged background and assist them with coaching and equipment.

“Among other key aspects of this tournament is that it seeks to raise funds towards developing this game,” said Mqwebu.

The Trust has grown since it was established in 2015 when it hosted its launch at the Margate Country Club.

Mqwebu said in a statement that trainers are on an on-going drive to lure young people, who have an interest in the game.

“The Trust is of the view that this sporting game will distract youth from criminal acts and unlawful conduct.”

The tournament format will be a four-ball alliance, two scores to count open to adult men and women.

“As per the organising committee, the fee to play will be R1 000 for a four-ball, which includes a cocktail party and a prize giving. The golf Trust also encourages sponsors to take part or organise players to play in the tournament,” said Mqwebu.
