TV licences

2016-06-30 06:00

SABC TV licences of R265 are futile legalities.

We only watch and DStv, so why pay for 20% of SABC’s operating expenditure as only 30% of SA households pay their licence fees?

Furthermore, if SABC news is so concerned about protests on TV, why not impound unlicensed TVs theoretically to reduce protesting violence by at least 70% and boost its income to fund the promised great local-content shows? Sure, the BBC TV fees are higher than ours, but in the UK the shows have no advertising breaks. If can operate without licence funding, why can’t SABC?
