The persistence of the SAPS Provincial Drug Unit members to root-out drug trade and drug abuse in the province yielded positive results when two suspects were arrested in Margate.

The two men, aged 30 and 39, were arrested for being in possession of, and dealing in drugs on Friday, September 14 and appeared in court on Monday, September 17.

The pair were found in possession of rock cocaine and clear packets of ‘cat’ with a combined street value of more than R21 000 in Munroe Avenue, Margate. They were taken to the police station for detention and charged.

“Similar operations are continuing throughout the province to eradicate the escalation of drugs,” said police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele. The case has been remanded to September 25 for further investigation.
