Hearty UCSF greetings to all!

Another month has shot past and spring is in the air. It seems like spring has blown new life into our light-fingered friends, who target residents in an attempt to part them from their belongings without paying. The items which are at risk are mainly laptops and cellphones. Thus our appeal again — please ensure that these items are kept well-secured and out of sight when not in use. Do not leave valuables close to open windows or in vehicles. It is also advised that you enable tracking devices on your items so that we can try and recover them or catch the thief if it is reported quickly enough.

We encourage residents to refer to the incidents map, on which the red dots indicate residential burglaries that had been reported during August 2018. The green dots are some of the suspicious activities that had been reported via the WhatsApp groups, and to which security companies and Block Watch members had responded.

As a direct result of their quick responses, many of these incidents did not become actual housebreakings and no property was lost. This is wonderful proof of the benefits of having these crime watch groups in our area. We applaud the security companies, Block Watch members, and SAPS for their untiring efforts in fighting crime in our area. Well done! We really appreciate it.

The next meeting will take place on Monday, October 8 at the Uvongo Library activities room.
