Warning to the public

2016-09-15 06:00

POLICE are concerned about the increasing number of instances where criminals gain easy access to vehicle keys when they break into homes.

Police spokesperson Captain Vincent Pandarum said the criminals use the vehicles that they steal to transport the stolen property.

“We would like to advise the public to ensure that the vehicle keys are kept away safely out of sight of any burglar who enter premises. People must also make certain that all doors are securely locked and windows shut when leaving home or going to sleep at night,” he said. Pandurum said the criminals wait for the slightest opportunity to gain access into peoples’ homes.

“Should anyone observe any motor vehicles or persons under suspicious circumstances in their neighbourhoods, they should contact the police on 10111 so that police can assess the situation for any threat.” - Supplied.
