What’s happening this October

AS we all know a lot happens every month in South Africa.

October is no exception as there are a number of health awareness drives and other campaigns taking place.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Marine Month, Social Development Month and Mental Awareness Month, among others.

There are two facilities on the lower South Coast that deal with cancer research and awareness and mental health conditions respectively and can assist with information.

World Hospice and Palliative Care Day takes place on 8 October and South Coast Hospice is the facility that assists with palliative care. They can be contacted on 039 682 3031.

Other important days to remember this month are World Sight Day, Global Handwashing Day and World Arthritis Day.
