WOMEN empowerment NPO, Zomnotho, is hosting its
second annual programme themed “educate, empower; inspire women on the rise” at Desroches Hotel on November 25.

Organiser and founder of Zomnotho, Nqobile Cele said the event will empower young and old aspiring business owners.

Cele said it is in her understanding that women from deep rural areas are unable to get as much information as those in suburbs.

She said at the event she will introduce a day session with an information-sharing for rural women so they get information from the different sectors.

“Various departments will be there
to assist the women, especially those who want to start or maintain their business.

“We will have the KZN Department of Economic Development, Cogta, Department of Communications, Department of Rural Development and Land Reform, Ugu District Municipality, and more.”

Cele said a group of young women have been invited with electrical engineering, civil engineering, maritime aviation skills and those in business, to share their success stories.

The day session is free and starts at 9am until 3pm.

Cele said a new project will be launched at the event.

“We will be introducing ‘Black Girl Lead’ awards, a new project aimed at forming a community of young role models for younger girls.

“This is where we will award successful women in different spheres of life - excelling young business women, women in art and women in social entrepreneurship. The age groups for the awards is 18 to 35.

“We are also proposing pop-up shops for young local designers who want to showcase their merchandise.”

The main speakers at the event include Tandi Mahambehlala, deputy
minister of communications and Cogta MEC, Nomusa Dube-Ncube.

The day session will be followed by an evening session.

Dress code is “Issa Monochrome and Bling Phenomenon”, and guests must come dressed in shades of black and white and “bling”.
