CHILD Welfare SA: KwaDukuza is a non-profit organisation that provides a wide range of services to children, families and communities in KwaDukuza and outlying areas. The society is in existence for 76 years. The society’s core service is to protect children who are at risk.

This includes abused, neglected, abandoned and orphaned children. Many of these children are either infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.

The society is a registered Child Protection Organisation with the Department of Social Development.

The society’s vision is to create a caring community that protects children to meet their needs that includes love, safety and opportunity to progress. Our cluster foster care scheme, the Groutville Community Care Homes, that comprises of 20 four bedroom homes, accommodates 120 vulnerable and displaced children, is making this vision a reality.

The society also administers a safe house for abused and abandoned children.

Community development is another core service of the Society. Sixty percent of the population in KwaDukuza and outlying areas live in abject poverty. Our projects are aimed at poverty alleviation. Our community workers are currently supervising over 100 projects in the KwaDukuza and outlying areas. These include community gardens, poultry farms, women’s groups, block making and skills training projects eg domestic workers empowerment programmes.

The projects have helped to alleviate poverty and to improve the quality of life in marginalised communities.

Over 8000 beneficiaries for social work and community projects depend on our society for survival.

The society also administers early childhood development projects. This includes a preschool, creche and after school facility.

The success of our service delivery is attributed to our loyal and dedicated staff for their commitment and positive team spirit and an effective and efficient board of management.

Our services are not subsidised by the state. The Winter Fair is held to raise funds to render services to the community and to sustain the organisation.

We place on record our sincere gratitude to the community, sponsors, volunteers and service providers for supporting the Winter Fair over the years.

We look forward to your support once again. - Supplied
