THE African National Congress in the General Gizenga Mpanza region welcomed various ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) members ahead of the party’s 107th birthday celebrations from January 7.

The visits formed part of the build up towards the party’s annual January 8 statement, which is scheduled to take place at the Durban Moses Mabhida Stadium on January 12, where President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to speak.

The week-long programme started off with ANC NEC member and treasurer Paul Mashatile visiting a housing project in Etete and then embarking on a door-to-door blitz along the R102 which ended in Ntshawini.

The NEC member, along with the regional leadership of the ANC, reminded people about the importance of registering to vote for the 2019 general elections which are set to take place in May.

This was followed by an ANC 107th birthday celebration that was held at Shakaville where the guest speaker was deputy secretary of the ANC Jesse Duarte.

Mobilisation campaigns will also continue in places like Maphumulo and Mandeni, and will be graced by the deputy president David Mabuza.
