ANCYL regional council a success

THE ANCYL in the Greater KwaDukuza Region held its third regional council at the Hampshire Hotel on Thursday, 23 February to reflect on the work the league has done since the election of its new regional leadership late last year.

The league’s regional secretary Musa Zondi said the theme for the council was “shaping a vibrant and radical ANCYL for the attainment of economic freedom in our lifetime”.

Speakers from the league’s alliance partners addressed the council offering messages of support.

ANC Women’s League regional executive member Phumzile Mbonambi appealed to members of the Youth League to ensure they do not take part in activities that perpetuate social ills in the iLembe District. She also urged the ‘Young Lions’ to play an active role in campaigns that sought to rid communities of social ills.

ANC regional chairperson Ricardo Mthembu emphasised to the Youth League the importance of ensuring unity and cohesion to ensure it realises its objectives.

ANCYL provincial executive committee member Siyabonga Nene urged members of the Youth League to work towards self-development through education and to ensure they selflessly serve the people.

“The regional general council resolved that henceforth the League was going to desist from supporting people who are not in support of the youth agenda and who upon election into positions exhibit a tendency of undermining young people.

The council also agreed that in heading for the ninth provincial congress, the KwaDukuza region backed comrades Nkosenhle Mngadi and Nomkhosi Khuzwayo as per the League’s 2016 Hampshire congress resolutions. Both candidates emerged as PEC members in the recent ninth congress,” Zondi said.
