THE Ilembe and District Cricket Union held its annual general meeting and awards presentation on July 6 at the Relax Inn guest house.

At the election of office bearers, Aboo Baker Ismail was re-elected president, while the two vice presidents were Mbuseni Maziwe and Desigan Pillay. Naren R. Singh was elected treasurer, Rajiv Matherpersad was elected secretary and Iresh Hemraj the records clerk.

In the awards, the T20A League was won by Manor CC, Pak International won the T20B League while Dawnheights CC won the 50 Overs and T20 U16 leagues. Adesh Bagelo of Manor and Uzair Ebrahim of Dawnheights won the T20 A batting and bowling awards respectively. The T20 B batting award went to Adnan Akhtar Abbass of Pak Int. and the bowling was won by Nhlakanipho Mthambo of Mandeni. Sachin Solanki of Dawnheights won the 50 Overs batting and Suveer Dewlal of Morningside the bowling awards. The T20 U16 batting and bowling awards went to Shravan Maharaj of Dawnheights and Dilion Subrayen of Morningside respectively. Cameron Pillay (batting) and Ismail Mahomed (bowling) won the Challenge League Stream 1 awards.

The re-elected president Ismail then addressed those in attendance about the club’s way forward and objectives.

“We once again appeal to clubs to send all their players with cricketing potential of a higher level to come forward and represent the union,” he said.
