On Saturday, November 25 Sensei San Pillay (8 Dan), Chief Instructor of ISKF South Africa and Africa graded students after a very personalised and informative training session.
Pillay said karate is not only about self-defense, kumite and kata but aids towards the perfection of attitudes, behaviour, human values and discipline.
“If all these aspects are achieved, then kata, kumite and karate will improve. Therefore ‘the ultimate aim of the art of karate lies not in victory nor in defeat but in the perfection of the character of its participants’ [Quote by Gichin Funakoshi].”
