THE Madundube community remains in shock after the discovery of an elderly woman’s body in an abandoned pit on Thursday, November 2.

The body was in a state of decomposition as she was last seen by her son three days before.

According to SAPS Kwa-Dukuza media liaison officer Sbusiso Khuzwayo, the community notified the police after the discovery and it was discovered she had not died from natural causes.

“Upon arrival at the scene police officers found a group of community members, who had gathered where the body was found.

“They did a crime scene investigation during which the officers found clues, which has led to a murder case being opened at the KwaDukuza police station,” he said.

The 56 year old, whose name is being withheld to protect her family, is believed to have been murdered by her live-in boyfriend whose whereabouts remain unknown.

KwaDukuza SAPS asks anyone with information that could lead to the arrest off the perpetrator(s) to come forward.
