Chief murdered on the way to a peace meeting

A CHIEF in the Mankwanyaneni area­, Ngudwini, in Mandeni, was shot dead at around 4am on 28
December, 2016.

Zwelibanzi Samson Mthethwa (66), was allegedly shot by two unknown suspects, according to a source, who asked to remain anonymous.

The source said the chief was attacked on his way to a community meeting about peace in the area.

It is reported that the chief was part of a local peace committee.

KZN SAPS spokesperson,
Colonel Thembeka Mbhele said the motive for the murder is unknown at this stage and no arrests have been made.

“We appeal to anyone who may assist with information to come forward so that the suspects can be arrested.

“Our Crime Stop number,
08600 10111 can be used to provide information,” Mbhele said.
