THE KwaDukuza Darts Association hosted a Team Four-a-Side Knockout competition at the Quartz Sports Bar in Stanger Manor.

There were five teams contesting the title and the games were played on a round robin system (1001 x 3).

In the opening game, Dhan’s Auto took on Quartz Darts Club and Dhan’s Auto beat Quartz 2-1.

Darnall Two took on Singh’s Fireworks and Singh’s won 2-1. Darnall One beat Quartz Darts Club 2-0.

Dhan’s Auto, who looked like the favourites, went on to extend their win after beating Darnall Two in a close battle 2-1, while Darnall United took a 2-0 loss against Singh’s. As the games continued, Dhan’s Auto took another victory against Singh’s and was well ahead on points to stay on the top of the leader board with seven points.

Darnall United, who clawed their way through with a narrow victory, had to face leaders Dhan’s Auto in the semi-finals.

Dhan’s Auto started their first set in high spirits, beating Darnall United in the first set to lead 1-0.

Darnall United, who stuck to their game plan, equalised in the second set to level the scores 1-1.

In the third set, Darnall stepped up their tempo and beat Dhan’s 2-1 to level the ties at seven points each.

Singh’s, who had to win against Quartz to stay in the contention, lost 2-1, blowing their chance at victory and seeing Dhan’s Auto and Darnall United reaching the finals.

The Dhan’s team of Justin Naidoo, Jodie Naidoo, Vasa Rungasamy and Naven Coopsamy had to face off against the Darnall United team of Vinesh Geanbally, Jerry Govender, Nine Pillay and Jerry Arunachellum.

In the opening match, both teams scored well but Dhan’s took advantage to win the first set as Darnall failed to close the game.

In the second set, Darnall United put up an attack to steal the second set and level the scores 1-1.

The third and final set was a do-or-die battle for either sides as both sides scored well, throw after throw, with challenging tallies.

Ultimately the Darnall United Team gave their full team spirit and left their opponents flat-footed to claim the Team Four-a- Side Knockout Cup. Jerry Arunachellum and Vinesh Geanbally notched up their “180” on the night.

Tonight the KwaDukuza Darts Association will host a Team Trebbles Knockout Competition.
