THE Quartz Sports Bar came alive during an entertaining evening where large crowds gathered to witness the top-of-the-log clash between Darnall United and Singh’s Fireworks Darts Clubs.

The Darnall team of Vinesh Geanbally, Jerry Govender, Nine Pillay and Jerry Arunachellum made up the line-up for the sugar boys while veteran Paddy Padayachee, Sanjay Singh, Meersingh Soobram and Ajen Singh were the lineup for Singh’s team.

Both team were well balanced to take each other on.

In the opening game, Geanbally took on Soobram and Govender took on Ajen Singh. The Darnall boys won the first two points to lead 2-0.

Padayachee and Sanjay Singh beat Pillay and Arunachellum to level the scores 2-2.

In the second frame, Pillay and Geanbally beat Ajen Singh and Padayachee to lead 4-2, however, this was short lived as Sanjay Singh and Soobram beat Govender and Arunachellum to level the score 4-4.

In the third frame, the sugar boys stepped up their tempo with Geanbally, Pillay and Arunachellum winning their games to lead 7-4.

Padayachee snatched his point from Govender after he failed to close on two attempts to bring the scores to 7-5.

With the final frame to go, it was an uphill battle for both the clubs but Darnall’s captain Geanbally, who was in top form throughout the night, beat Ajen Singh to take a 8-5 lead, putting the Darnall team on the spot.

Govender added more fuel to the fire to secure the winning point to put the sugar boys in the driving seat with a 9-5 lead.

With two games to go, and all the excitement in the camp, Arunachellum and Pillay lost focus, losing to Sanjay Singh and Padayachee to take the scores to 9-7 in favour of Darnall United. Geanbally top scores with “171” ( triple 19) .

In the other game Dhan’s Auto beat Quartz Darts Club 12-4. Tonight sees the last games of the UNL Produce League Round 1 with Red Gold KZN vs Darnall United and Dhan’s Auto vs Singh’s Fireworks with Quartz Darts Club on duty.
