KWADUKUZA Darts Association (KDDA) hosted the Ajen Singh and Family Mixed Doubles at the Quartz Conference Centre on Wednesday.
The top half of the draw saw Charlie Pillay and Jodie Naidoo beat Justin Nadoo and Logan Moonsamy 2-1.
Yogan Pillay and Jerry Arunachellum beat Ashley Haripersadh and Vasa Rungasamy 2-1. They set up to meet Charlie and Jodie, who demolished Yogan and Jerry A 2-0, and advanced to the semi-finals.
Meersingh Soobram and Preyan Ganasen beat Preolin Mutusamy and Jason Moodley 2-1 and went on to meet Charlie and Jodie in the first semi-finals. Meersingh
and Preyan wasted no time and removed Charlie and Jodie out of the race with a 2-0 victory and booked themselves in the final.
Bottom half of the draw saw Nine Pillay and Navern Coopsamy beat Julian Pillay and Rowen Pillay 2-1 and move to the quarters.
Kyle Pillay and Paddy Padayachee beat Terrence Subban and Justin 2-1 to set up a place in the quarters meeting Nine and Navern.
Kyle and Paddy proved too strong and defeated Nine and Navern 2-1 and advanced to semi-finals.
Vinesh Geanbally and Jerry Govender beat Ajen Singh and Devan Gounden 2-1 to meet Pillay and Padayachee in the semi-finals.
Pillay and Padayachee beat Geanbally and Govender 2-1 and went on to the finals.
The finals was well contested by both teams with support and cheers from their team mates.
However Meersingh and Preyan beat Pillay and Padayachee 2-1 to clinch the Ajen Singh and Family mixed doubles title.
In other news a strong team line up is selected to represent KDDA in the SA Nationals to be held at Bloemfontein from 9 to 16 July.
The team - Paddy Padayachee, Darrel Shanmagum, Charlie Pillay, Nine Pillay, Jodie Naidoo, Devan Gounden, Neeran Somnath and manager Vigen Murugan - hope to bring honor to KwaDukuza Darts Association.
Today (Wednesday 6 July) will see the mixed trebles being played sponsored by Jayraj Singh.
