DAWNVIEW Primary beat Shakaskraal 1-0 in the final to lift the KZN Future Stars KwaDukuza title having not conceded a single goal throughout the tournament at Stanger High School Grounds recently.

Dawnview have KZN ex-semi professional, Themba “Sunnyboy” Mtshali to thank for their success as the former Black Pirates player’s side looked the most organised of the 10 teams taking part during the competition.

“First we must thank the AmaZulu Community Trust for coming to these areas and doing such projects because at times, by ourselves, we don’t have the means.

“I’m happy for the boys because we played six matches and didn’t concede, which means the defenders were listening to instructions as well as the goalkeeper,” said Mtshali.

As with many grass-roots football and life skills development projects there were many hiccups that came at the beginning of the year but according to the coach it’s all worth the satisfaction of seeing youngsters succeed in future.

AmaZulu head coach Joey Antipas and first team players Mabhuti Khenyeza, Siyabonga Nomvethe, Nkanyiso Zungu, Lungelo Dlamini and Tapelo Nyongo were among the spectators.

Goalkeeper of the Tournament: Sakhile Suluman, Shakaskraal

Midfielder of the Tournament: Gift Gumede, KwaDukuza

Defender of the Tournament: Simphiwe Mphothu, New Guelderland

Striker of the Tournament: Bheko Zulu, Dawnview

Player of the Tournament: Bheko Zulu, Dawnview
