Development in cycling shows promise

A CYCLING team from Ushaka Rising Heroes Academy in iLembe participated in a massive BMX event recently.

Chairman Dumisani Ndzimakwe employed by the KZN Cycling Development Trust acts as the iLembe Development Officer for cycling.

He took the team to the various events held each Sunday in March in different places.

On March 4 they went to Giba Gorge BMX Park for the first leg of the competition, March 11 was Queensburg BMX Park for the second leg and the finals was on March 25 at PMB Alexander Park.

iLembe has been competing with the eThekwini team, with eight cyclist per district.
There are seven cyclists for iLembe who qualify to go to the KZN National BMX Champions and one from eThekwini. In the boys, Luyanda Ngidi placed first, Wandile Mbili placed second and Owen Ndzimakwe plaved third.
In the girls Aphelele Ndabeni placed first, second was Bridget Shalom, third was Zandile Nongxina and Sanelisiwe Nodlolo was fourth.

These teams have progressed well in cycling thanks to the KZN Cycling Development Trust.
