Drugs seized in KwaDukuza

THREE suspects aged between 20 and 30 appeared in the KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court on Thursday for possession of drugs. This is according to KZN SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbhele.

“They were remanded in custody for further investigation. On Wednesday, May 3, iLembe Cluster Task Team and National Mobile Train Unit were conducting crime prevention duties at Ntshawini, KwaDukuza, when they followed up on information about drugs in the area.
“The members immediately reacted and went to an identified house where they found three suspects. “The house was searched and the members found 300 heroin capsules and dagga with a street value of R30 000 and R17 000 in cash was also found in their possession, Mbhele said.
“All three suspects were arrested and charged accordingly.” She said in a separate operation conducted i n Maphumulo on the same day, the SAPS recovered a hijacked motor vehicle.

“Investigations revealed that the vehicle was hijacked in the Free State province. One suspect, the driver, was arrested and charged with being in possession of property suspected to be stolen. He appeared in the Maphumulo Magistrate’s Court on 4 May,” she said.

The outcome of the court appearance is not known at the time of going to press.
