THE Strini Motors League attracted a large crowd at the Quartz Sportsbar on Wednesday night as spectators came to see see Darnall United and Singh’s Fireworks do battle.

Singh’s Team of Meersingh Soobram, Ajen Singh, Sanjay Singh, and Paddy Padayachee started the team game on a high note by winning the first set to lead 1-0.

The Darnall United Team of Vinesh Geanbally, Jerry Govender, Nine Pillay, and Jerry Arunachellum made a good come back in the second set to level the scores 1-1.

In the third set, Darnall United wasted no time and put up some good tallies to win the team game, leading 2-1.

In the opening Doubles Game, Vinesh Geanbally and Jerry Govender teamed up and beat Meersingh Soobram and Ajen Singh to extend the lead to 3-1. However, Nine Pillay and Jerry Arunachellum lost focus and paid the price at the hands of Sanjay Singh and Paddy Padayachee to take the scoreline to 3-2.

With four singles game to go, this was a real tester to separate the men from the boys.

In the opening set, Vinesh Geanbally was brought down by Meersingh Soobram to level the scores 3-3. The second game saw Jerry Govender beat Ajen Singh to give the Darnall lads a 4-3 lead. The third game saw Nine Pillay take on Sanjay Singh and Pillay opened the game with a (180) triple twenty, sticking to the game plan and beating Singh to put Darnall United in the driving seat with a 5-3 lead.

The final game saw Paddy Padayachee take on Jerry Arunachellum. Padayachee had, through top tallies, left Arunachellum way behind to reach the doubles. However, Arunachellum came back fighting and took Padayachee out of the contest to give the Darnall team a 6-3 victory.

In the other game, Dhan’s Auto beat Red Gold Darts Club 6-3 to remain undefeated in The Strini Motors League first round.

Next week sees the second round commence with Darnall United vs Red Gold Darts Club, Quartz Dart Club vs Dhan’s Auto and Singh’s Fireworks will be the club on duty.
