THE Shri Genessar Temple — Glendale Hindu Sath Sangh Sabha (GHSSS), participated in the annual Durban Diwali procession on Saturday for the first time.

The Diwali procession is part of the annual event hosted by the South African Hindu Maha Sabha. Floats of all shapes and sizes from various Hindu organisations took part in the event.

Speaking to Stanger Weekly, one of the organisers, Renesh Bansilal, said their float won the hearts of the crowd, capturing each passerby’s attention.

“The community of Glendale has carved a space among fellow Hindu associations across Durban and has made history by being one of the first associations of the Glendale region to participate in such a spectacular event. The management team of the GHSSS, including our trustees, would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who came to support and participate in the float procession.

“A special thanks goes to each of our sponsors, as without you this success would not have been possible.”

The GHSSS would like to encourage all other religious organisations within the area to join them to uplift Hindu Dharma by working together for the betterment of the community, he added.

“We look forward to working with all other organisation that have similar objectives. On behalf of the management team and trustees of the GHSSS, we would like to take this opportunity to wish all Hindus a joyous Diwali; may your homes be filled with love and happiness.”
