GROUTVILLE High School held an awards ceremony to honour the class of 2017 matriculants as well as teachers on Friday, May 18.

The class of 2017 did the school proud and obtained an impressive 91,8% pass and was among the top five performing schools in the iLembe District.

The event was attended by members of the SGB, ward councillor and KwaDukuza Mayor Ricardo Mthembu.

Ward councillor Njabulo Cele welcomed guests and encouraged pupils that they must embrace where they come from and that they can become whatever they want to achieve in life.

During his keynote address Mthembu firstly congratulated the class of 2017 for making iLembe proud, particularly the Groutville area.

“Now you have the opportunity to change your lives and that of your families, this school has set a good example to other schools and we also acknowledge the role that the teachers have played in the school improving its pass rate,” said Mthembu.
