THE KwaDukuza Municipality led by Mayor Ricardo Mthembu unlocked ground-breaking road rehabilitation projects for the communities of Wards 16 and 17 in Stanger Manor on Tuesday, May 8.

At the sod turning of both road projects the mayor was accompanied by municipal officials from the engineering department, the deputy mayor Dolly Govender and ward councillors and members of the executive councillors Madhun Singh and Jennifer Vallen.

Vallen of Ward 16 said that the Greyridge Road Project is one of many projects that have been completed during her term as ward councillor.

“Our ward has successfully finished four projects in one year which is a first in KwaDukuza and I would like to say that as council, we have a manifesto to deliver for our people.

“As you can see the road has not been in a good state as it is riddled with potholes and cracks, its rehabilitation will bring some dignity to people of ward 16,” said Vallen.

Mthembu said as the administrative side of council, they trust that the engineers will do a sterling job with these projects. “We have a duty to fulfil our mandate as we swore when we entered office in 2016 that we will ensure that service delivery to our people is achieved, as the local government entity that is our main priority,” said Mthembu. The 500 to 600 metre roads will cost in the region of R1.6 million each and will improve the road infrastructure in KwaDukuza.
