CHILD Welfare SA-KwaDukuza celebrated Foster Parent’s Day recently.
The programme was aimed at celebrating the unconditional support and warmth that foster parents bring to the lives of the children in their care.
According to senior social work manager, Penny Dhaver many children are cared for by foster parents and so it is important that their roles be recognised.
“They need to be encouraged to continue being their pillar of strength. The programme was interactive. The foster parents interacted well with Ms G. Gumede from SASSA who provided them with vast information including foster care grants, care dependency grants, old age grants, disability grants and child support grants.”
Foster parents were awarded certificates for their outstanding care of the children.
The event also succeeded in raising essential awareness on foster parenting.
