Ilembe to host under 11 cricket trials

ILEMBE Primary Schools Cricket will host under 11 cricket trials for learners in KwaDukuza schools on Monday, 1 February at the KwaDukuza Country Club Ground commencing at 1pm.

Chairman of Ilembe Primary Schools Cricket, Desigan Pillay urged all schools in KwaDukuza to give their pupils an opportunity to pit their skills in the hope of being selected to represent Ilembe.

Under 11 cricket trials is also scheduled to take place on 28 January at the Umhlali Prep School (catering for pupils in the Umhlali circuit).
On 29 January at Darnall Primary School (catering for pupils north of KwaDukuza including Darnall, Lee Primary and Mandeni Academy).

Selected squads from the three centres (Darnall, KwaDukuza and Umhlali) will be engaged in an Ilembe under 11 trials scheduled for 3 and 4 February at Umhlali Prep (from 12.30pm - 4.30pm on both days) before a final squad of 12 players is selected.

The selected squad will undergo a vigorous training programme for a month before representing Ilembe at the KwaZulu-Natal Primary Schools under 11 Cricket Festival to be held in Durban North from 4-6 March.

Meanwhile, the under 11 schools league will commence on 2 February with the under 13 league scheduled to get underway on 11 February.
The format and draws for the tournament will take place on Monday, 25 January at the Sabha Hall commencing at 12.30pm.

Pillay said: “Schools that are not represented at the meeting will not be allowed to participate in the league programme.”
