Ilembe wins opening 50 Overs Promotion League match

ILEMBE took on Harlequins this weekend in a 50 Overs Promotion League.

Harlequins won the toss and decided to field.

C. Pillay posted 10, I. Sher posted 10, A. Bageloo posted four and then fell victims to paceman Y. Godil.

Y. Ismail was next in the hut for three with the total of 43/4 in the 12th over.

S. Chetty and S. Logenathan put on 54 runs before Logenathan fell victim to E. Cavanagh for 27.

N. Yousaf and Chetty fell with the score of 109 in the 25th over.

The last three wickets fell for 36 runs with captain Z. Ali at 23.

Ilembe posted 145/10 in 37 overs. The best Harlequins bowlers were E. Cavanagh (4/28 in 8) and Y. Godil (4/31 in 9 overs).

In reply, Harlequins were bowled out for 116 in 39.3 overs.

Best Harlequins batsmen were F. Safri 28, A. Del Moro 15, Y. Godil 13 and W. Fourie 11.

Strike bowlers for Ilembe were S. Logenathan (3/19 in 10), R. Mhlongo (3/24 in 10), Aaron Pillay (2/23 in 10) I. Sher (1/9 in 1.3) and Z. Ali (1/14 in 5 overs).

Ilembe won by 29 runs.
