DAWNHEIGHTS took on Flipside in the Ilembe Local 50 overs at Umhlali School on October 28.

Ishan Kalia opened the bowling, taking two wickets in his opening over, one in his second, and another in his third. Edges and miss-hits from all the batsmen carried effortlessly to the boundaries, resulting in a high run-rate and keeping the scoreboard ticking over.

A 53 run fifth wicket stand between S. Veeramajoo and N Singh kept the Dawnheights bowlers at bay with some big hits mixed with some streaky boundaries. Veerajamoo fell to the bowling of Banda with a catch on the boundary by man of match Kalia. Kalia was brought back into the attack and his first ball completed his five wicket haul. Wickets kept falling, thereby resulting in Flipside being all out and setting a target of 161 for Dawnheights.

Malcolm Naidoo and Shivaan Singh opened the batting and, in the third over, Flipside removed M Naidoo. Shivvan fell on 41. Captain A Ramduth fell on 26 and lunch was taken with Dawnheights on 115/4 after 17 overs.

Kalia joined Raj at the crease and they decided to finish the match with some aggressive big hitting.

Raj Verma ended on 51 not out, ensuring a win for Dawnheights by five wickets.
