KwaDukuza Ratepayers and Civic Association formed

2015-11-11 06:01

AT a meeting held last Thursday at the KwaDukuza Supper Room, the KwaDukuza Ratepayers and Civic Association was officially formed.

More than 70 concerned citizens attended the meeting where the interim committee lead by chairperson Haroon Mohammedy presented a report on the progress made.

It was decided to constitute a new organisation instead of reviving the North Coast Ratepayers Association, as most of the documents from the association had been misplaced.

According to Mohammedy, they aim to add members into the interim committee so as to form working groups to deal with particular matters.
He said the association will cover the entire KwaDukuza area, however they will begin tackling some of the main issues facing the community at large around the CBD.

It was also decided that the association would object to the development of a shopping mall and civic precinct on the land where the sporting facilities currently stand.
A special working group will focus on this area and will request the full documentation for the proposed development from the municipality to find out if all the correct procedures were followed.

The association intents to hold a formal launch before the end of the year.
However, a meeting will be held prior to the launch to present the draft constitution.
Details will follow in the press shortly.
