LOUISE Williams from KwaDukuza took second place in the Allsome Biryani Champion competition last week.

The culinary contest was run on East Coast Radio (ECR) from July 30, with the winner announced after an on-air tasting this past Friday.

Amateur chefs were called on to nominate either themselves, or someone they knew, to be crowned the illustrious Allsome Biryani Champion by entering online with a motivation as to why they should be considered for the contest.

From Monday to Thursday last week, one finalist was announced daily on ECR.

The four finalists were tasked with preparing a biryani sample, accompanied by Allsome Rice, and they were invited to East Coast Radio House where the East Coast Drive team with Bongani and Mags got to taste a sample of their biryani live on air.

Williams received R1 000 in cash as well as a hamper with respective Willowton Group and Le Creuset prizes.

Williams was thrilled to have reached the top two in the competition, stating that it was exciting to be a part of the event.

She said she will enjoy using her prizes to create more delicious dishes.
