THE Association of Shotokan Karate Do South Africa (ASKDSA) hosted the All Styles Friendly Karate Championship recently at the Tongaat Sports Centre.
Three local karateka, Redavia Raghubeer, Denisha Naidoo and Kerissa Naidoo, from Shotokan Kokusai Karatedo SA - Stanger, participated in the competition.
According to their instructor Sensei Sherwin Hooblal, the three diligent karate students are committed to their sport and training.

“Denisha gave an excellent account of herself as she participated in her kata division and scooped bronze. Kerissa dwarfed her competition in Kumite and achieved the gold podium position.
“Redavia, who secured gold medals in both kata and Kumite, was praised as the champion in her division.”

Hooblal thanked the parents and students for their support toward the sport, adding that he is committed to continuous development throughout 2016.
“The club is producing quality athletes since inception. Hard work, determination and a strong work ethic is what matters. Congratulations to my karatekas on a sterling performance.”
