Lotare hosts retired teachers’ rendezvous

2018-09-12 06:01

THE Lower Tugela Association of Retired Educators (Lotare) will host the Retired Teachers Rendezvous today (Wednesday) at the Siva Sungum Hall commencing at 8.30 am.

Ten associations, representing retirees from throughout the province stretching along the coast from KwaDukuza to Port Shepstone and inland to Pietermaritzburg, will be present.

According to Lotare’s Jayce Singh, a full programme has been planned for the day and the retirees will be involved in entertainment, music, dance and indoor games.

“Breakfast, lunch and tea will be served before the guests start departing from 3.30 pm.

“KwaDukuza deputy mayor Dolly Govender will welcome the visitors on behalf of the town. The annual rendezvous gives the retired teachers an opportunity to meet former colleagues and their teachers in a spirit of cordiality and reverence. Some of them are in their 90s.”

Next year’s event will be hosted by the Chatsworth Retired Teachers’ Association.
