Mandeni unveils business programme

2017-03-22 06:02

THE Mandeni Municipality in partnership with Trade and Investment KwaZulu-Natal (TIKZN) launched a Business Retention and Expansion Programme in iSithebe last Wednesday.

Mandeni mayor Siphesihle Zulu said this programme will assist with promoting business and entrepreneurship in Mandeni and surrounding areas.

“iSithebe is expected to be the home of renewable energy. It is our aim also to sustain jobs, therefore local people need to be equipped with skills,” Zulu said.

He said the council is duty-bound to create employment opportunities for its people.

“We are also faced with the heavy task of sustaining existing business as well as reducing unemployment and poverty,” he said.

General manager at TIKZN Donny Pethan said his department’s main purpose is to facilitate job creation, identify, develop and package investment opportunities in the province and seek to expand and retain trade both in import and export activities and work collaboratively with other stakeholders in retaining business in iSithebe.
