MANOR Cricket Club hosted a successful 8-a-side 20th anniversary Big Bash Tournament this past weekend at Gledhow Cricket Grounds.

Six teams participate in two groups of three, with the winners from each playing each other in the final.

Pak 1 defeated Manor Cricket Club in the opening match and 707 in their second match to secure a spot in the final.

In the 707 vs Pak 1 match, Pak 1 batted first and posted 100 runs in their alloted eight overs.

Nabeel Yousaf top scored with 24 runs.

In reply, 707 posted 90 in eight overs with Pak 1 bowler Anjun getting one wicket for five runs in his over.

Legends defeated Pak 2 and Pak 3 to reach the final. Against Pak 3, Legends bowled first and restricted Pak 3 to 64 runs.

Legends chased the total with one wicket down.

S. Logenathan was 26 not out and C. Pillay was 11 not out and saw them home.

In the final, Legends bowled first and restricted Pak 1 to 50 all out.

C. Pillay took two wickets for one run, A. Bageloo two wickets for four runs, M. Logenathan one wicket for three runs and R. Naidoo one wicket for eight runs.

They were outstanding with the ball and also on the field with two magnificent run outs.

Ali Sher with eight runs, Z. Ali with eight runs and Anjun with seven runs were the top scorers for Pak 1.

In reply, Legends openers A. Bageloo and C. Pillay were in complete control of the situation, scoring at will.

Bageloo was caught for 13 on the bowling of Adnan in the fourth over.

Pillay was joined by R. Naidoo and they took the total to 41 in the sixth over before Naidoo was caught for eight runs.

S. Loganathan came and went with a first ball from Usama.

M. Loganathen joined Pillay to steer the Legends ship to glory, with Pillay hitting the winning boundary with an unbeaten 23 runs.
