Manor, Grove end to renew rivalry

2015-11-18 06:00

MANOR and Grove End volleyball clubs will renew their rivalry in the KZN Car Paint Specialist Corporate Knockout Cup (to be hosted by KwaDukuza Volleyball Association) which gets underway tonight (Wednesday) at the association courts at 7pm.
Grove End dominated the opening two corporate tournaments beating Manor on both occasions in the final. In the Natdale Insulators Contractors-sponsored corporate knockout tournament, Grove End did not field a team and take the risk of injuring any player ahead of the VSA Champions Club Tournament held in Cape Town.
Grove End's absence was a blessing for Manor, who seized the opportunity with both hands to clinch the Natdale Corporate K.O. Cup after beating Frendz in the final.
Grove End will want to reclaim their bragging rights in the corporate ranks and must be rated as strong front-runners for honours in the KZN Car Specialist Corporate K.O. Cup. Adhil Khan's Manor outfit have been blowing hot and cold this season, but will want to finish the season on a high note.
Volleyball pundits expect a massive showdown between Grove End and Manor in what promises to be a thrill-a-minute action packed game, punctuated with power attacking, missiles and bazookas.
Matches will be played in two pools on a league basis. The round robin matches will be contested over three sets comprising 15 uncapped points. The semi's and finals will take place on Friday, 20 November. In the semi's and finals each set will comprise 25 points. The third and decisive set will comprise 15 points.
KDVA tournament director, Revy Harryprasad said: "The draws for the tournament gets underway at 6.30pm and teams that arrive after 7pm can regard themselves as spectators.”
The entry fee of R300 must be paid prior to the draws. Trophies will be awarded to the winners and runners-up and braai packs to all participants.
Meanwhile, the EZE'S Electrical-sponsored year-end knockout gets underway on Thursday.
However, in the event of rain, all matches will be played on Tuesday, 24 November.
