THE Maphumulo community is still in shocked following the death of Captain Mhlanzi of the SAPS in the area last week.

Mayor Zibuyisile Khuzwayo-Dlamini joined the MEC for the Department Of Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Mxolisi Kaunda, in a stakeholders meeting on February 26 at the municipality council chambers.

The meeting was held with the aim to create a good working relationship between all stakeholders in the fight against crime and the brutal killing of cops, which the country is facing.

Mhlanzi was shot and killed during a robbery at a local store last week.

Khuzwayo-Dlamini sent her condolences to the Mhlanzi family. “It is with deep and profound regret that we learn about the passing of Captain Mhlanzi. I knew Mhlanzi as being a loyal and dedicated member of the SAPS as well as the community.

“It is sad that a person who has contributed so much to fighting crime in the area has to pass in this manner. We hope and pray that the almighty will give strength and peace of mind to members of the family and colleagues.

“We urge all stakeholders to work hand in hand through amakhosi, policing forums, the SAPS and the community to fight crime in the area of Maphumulo,” said Khuzwayo-Dlamini.

The MEC ensured the community of Maphumulo that the police will work tirelessly until they find the suspects.
