MELVILLE Primary is proud to be one of the 19 schools in KwaZulu-Natal to be adopted by Umtapo, a non-profit organisation funded by the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund.
The social justice organisation aims to cultivate a society where peace and justice prevail. As part of the KZN project, Melville Primary Peace Club successfully launched an anti-bullying campaign at the school recently.

The unique programme was led by pupils belonging to the club.

The directors and field workers together with principal Mrs Munian praised the club for not just holding the attention of more than 900 pupils but also emphasising the impact of bullying at schools.

Mrs V.M. Somai and Miss S.S. Mbatha who co-ordinate the club were thanked by Mrs S. Nubian for initiating this awareness at school. Nubian also expressed her thanks to Umtapo for supporting the children in helping to empower themselves against social injustices.

Somai and Mbatha also thanked Umtapo as they continue to ensure that Peace Clubs and schools keep their pledges.
