Mother and son arrested for being in possession of drugs

THE Ndwedwe Crime Prevention Unit arrested two suspects on Thursday, 18 August in the Umona area for being in possession of drugs.

According to KZN SAPS spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane the two suspects, a mother, and son aged 51 and 22 respectively, were arrested at around 6am for being in possession of marijuana (dagga).

The suspects are expected to appear in the Ndwedwe Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 19 August.

“The members were conducting an operation in Umona area, Ndwedwe when they followed up information about drugs in the area. The members proceeded to an identified homestead where they searched the houses. Thirty three bags of dagga with the street value of about R100 000 were found in a house which was locked,” Zwane said.
