ALVEIRO Nadasen inspired Ilembe Cricket Union to an emphatic 106-runs victory against Simplex in a KwaZulu Natal Cricket Union Challenge League (Stream One) game played at the Siripat Ground in Durban on Sunday.

The decision by Ilembe to bat first backfired after Lucky Gebane was sent for an early shower after being clean bowled by Yusuf Mohamed for a royal duck in the fifth delivery of the match.

Steven Jacobs (12) was caught in the covers by Winston Naidoo off the bowling of Mohamed. Ismail Mahomed was dismissed without getting off the mark after offering a simple return catch to bowler Jean Fourie.

Presehen Rampersadh (13) was clean bowled by Jonathan Kimber leaving Ilembe in a spot of bother at 32/4 in the 11th over. Man-of-the-match Nadasen and Bilal Ismail turned the game on its head with a match-winning 106-runs partnership (taking the tally from 32/4 to 138/5).

Ismail (58) notched up a brilliant half-century which included four boundaries before being caught at long off by Desigan Naidoo off the bowling of Sherwin Munsamy. Ahmed Sarwar (2), Saidi Mhlongo (1) and Iqbal Sher (5) were dismissed cheaply.

Nadasen notched up a brilliant, unbeaten 78 runs contribution which included seven fours, guiding Ilembe to 182/8 at the end of the 50th over.

Munsamy was the pick of the Simplex bowlers claiming 4/33 from 10 overs. He received good support from Mohamed, who grabbed 3/22 from 7 overs.

Chasing a mammoth 183-runs for victory, Simplex were bundled out for a paltry 76 runs in the 27th over. Munsamy (15), Hendricks (15) and Sheldon Swanepool (13) were the only batsmen to notch double digits.

Aaron Pillay was the destroyer-in-chief for Ilembe claiming 4/23 from 7 overs. Saidi Mhlongo grabbed 2/13 from 8 overs.
