Naidoo wins singles tournament

THE Jerry Govender Singles Dart Tournanment was played at the Quarts Sportsbar at Stanger Manor on Wednesday.

While some of the players were away representing KwaDukuza Darts Assocciation in the SA Nationals in Bloemfontein, the tournament continued.

The game was played on a round robin system. The top half of the draw saw Jerry Govender beat Ajen Singh 2-0 and Jerry Arunachellum beat Preolin Muthusamy 2-1.

However Govender and Arunachellum finished top two to advance into the next round. The bottom half saw Vinesh Geanbally beat Meersingh Soobram 2-0 and Len Naidoo beat Sashen Naidoo 2-0 to advance into the next round.

The first semi-final was Jerry Govender and Len Naidoo verse each other and Len Naidoo wasted no time in beating Govender 2-1 to advance to the final.

In the second semi-final Vinesh Geanbally beat Jerry Arunachellum 2-0 to advance to the final.

In the final game Len Naidoo and Vinesh Geanbally were in top form playing top darts on the night, however the first set was won by Naidoo.

Geanbally came from a game down and leveled the scores 1-1.

In the final set Naidoo did not waste time as he top scored and won the match to clinch the Jerry Govender and family singles title.

KDDA thanked Jerry Govender for his Year to year sponsor.

KDDA will host the mixed four-a-side tournament at the Quartz Sportsbar and Centre tonight (Wednesday 20 July).
