Nation Builders shows support for breast cancer month

Statistics show that out of every eight women, one is likely to develop invasive breast cancer at some point in her lifetime.
In an effort to empower the women of the community, Nation Builders hosted a successful Breast Cancer Awareness Programme at the Ballito Library on Saturday, 28 October.
Ladies all dressed in pink and were treated to an informative talk on the symptoms, risk factors and various guidelines on how to detect breast cancer early, by Dr Zemfundo Portia Malevo.
Dr Malevo, a practising radiologist in KwaDukuza stressed importance of annual mammograms for women over 40 and the need for women stay informed.
Guest speakers, sister Paddy Chettiar and local businesswoman Jaime Ernst inspired guests with their personal testimonies on their fight against breast cancer.

Michelle Annet Sewraj, founder of Nation Builders said the event was held to empower, educate and inform women about breast cancer.

She stressed the importance of having a healthy diet, exercising regularly and the need for all women to take personal responsibility for their health.

She added that part of the vision of Nation Builders is to empower women, and in joining the support for breast cancer awareness she believes that women are going to be more readily informed going forward.
Sewraj encouraged all guests to heed the advice given by the guest speakers and to join the fight against breast cancer, by having their regular screenings and mammograms to detect any early signs cancer cells.
