National darts event a success

THE KwaDukuza Darts Association thanked all the sponsors who supported the players selected to represent the association at the SA National Darts Championships held in Johannesburg.

Despite the cold weather, the team put up a good performance said president of the association Meersingh Soobram.

Soobram said he was pleased with the players performance and once again thanked the sponsors that supported the players.

In other darts news, the U N L Produce League commenced with the second round with Darnall United set to claim the league title after beating Quartz Darts Club 12-4 on Wednesday night at the Quartz Sportsbar. The Darnall team of Vinesh Geanbally, Jerry Govender, Nine Pillay and Jerry Arunachellum, gave their opponents a run for their money on the night. Darnall United won the first frame 4-0. In the second frame Quartz Dart Club levelled the scores 2-2.

The third frame was a humdinger as the sugars boys stepped up their tempo and won 4-0 once more.

The fourth and final frame was an equaliser once more, with the Darnall boys getting the upper hand with a 12-4 win on the night, bringing them ever closer to the league title.

The other game saw Singh’s Fireworks Darts Club chasing the title after beating Red Gold Darts Club 11-5.

The first frame saw Singh’s win 3-1.

In the second frame, Red Gold levelled the scores 2-2. The third frame was in favour of Singh’s, 3-1. The final frame was a win for Singh’s once more (at 3-1) to win 11-5 on the night.

Tonight (Wednesday) Darnall will do battle with Singh’s Fireworks and Dhan’s Auto will come up against Quartz Darts Club with Red Gold Darts Club on duty.
