Ukuphakamisa, a NPO sponsored by DCLM, New Guelderland Landowners and Residents Committee and the public, hosted a beach festival at Harry Bodasing beach for those less fortunate in December.

More than 1 200 meals were provided and children were given treats.

Jumping castles and novelty sports were a hit for the day with 50 prizes awarded to various sporting activity winners.

In addition, five R150 prizes were given for the beach clean-up, which resulted in the collection of 150 bags of litter from the beach.

Santa Claus presented 550 gifts to the children while the community danced to music provided by a professional deejay.

Transport was provided to the people­ from Stewart, Changoors, Hyde Park, Express area and Nonoti.

Trustee of Ukuphakmisa Aresh Singh said: “We had a fun-filled day without any incidents, injuries or mishaps. Our community bonded and had a fabulous time.
