FOUNDER of Nation Builders Annet Michelle Sewraj, has been selected as one of the finalists in the Social Entrepreneur Category for the Business Women’s Association (BWA) Regional Businesswoman of the Year Awards 2018.

The Regional Businesswoman of the Year Awards is an annual award highlighting top achieving woman in business across six different categories including professionals, corporates, woman in government and entrepreneurs.

Nation Builders was born in the heart of Sewraj, who has a passion and desire to empower and protect children, youth and the women of so- ciety.

Sewraj holds a degree in psychology and has been actively engaged in counselling and rehabilitation for the past 18 years.

She also holds a postgraduate qualification in education and has been teaching since 2004.

“My love and flare for events planning resulted in me being at the helm of Groundbreakers Conference Centre and Cafe, as one of the directors.

“Nation Builders was registered with the Department of Social Development in 2015 and exists with the primary goal to impact and transform South Africa,” Sewraj said.

Sewraj’s vision and, by extension, the vision of her brainchild Nation Builders is to protect, teach and train the next generation to become the future builders of the nation, to empower and equip women to rise up in every sphere and domain as the country’s nation builders and to advocate the rights of children, youth and women.

“I have been working in the region over the past few years with many volunteers who have assisted in outworking this vision,” she explained.

Speaking to the Weekly, Sewraj’s colleague Desiree Gengan said Nation Builders has had small beginnings, however, Sewraj must be commended for her passion and selfless sacrifice to work towards changing and transforming this nation one life at a time.

“We wish her well for the finals of the BWA’s Regional Businesswoman Awards 2018, which will be announced on Friday, August 17 at a gala dinner which will be held at the Elangeni Hotel in Durban,” Gengan said.
