Police officer shot in Mandeni

A 48-year-old police officer from Sundumbili SAPS was attacked and shot by an unknown suspect on Monday.

According to KZN SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Nqobile Gwala, the incident took place at the Dark City area, in Mandeni.

“It is alleged that the suspect overpowered and disarmed him before shooting him at the back.
He was taken to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The motive is unknown at this stage.
“A case of murder was opened at Sundumbili police station for investigation and no arrest has been made,” she said.

This incident comes after two police officers were shot and killed at Inyoni police station a month ago.
